Beginner Embroidery
Learn how to begin embroidering on fabric with Niki.
Using an embroidery hoop, set up the fabric. Learn to transfer a custom design onto the fabric using multiple methods. Learn basic stitches such as straight stitch, back stitch, chain stitch, satin stitch, and french knot.
We will work together to create a custom designed template of a peacock and flowers.

*Students would keep the hoop, base cloth, needles, and enough threads to finish their project*

Niki English - An Apparel Designer by day and homesteader by night, Niki left her mass-market fashion job in NYC 6 years ago seeking a deeper connection to the land and community. She works as Director of Product Develpment for a company focusing on supporting POC, LGBTQIA+, and women-owned Apparel businesses. She teaches fiber arts and sewing classes at Munson and Utica Creative Reuse, and is excited to expand her class offerings with Kirkland Art Center. She lives in Remsen with her partner and their two german shepard rescue dogs.
